Welcome to the first part of my “Retro Inspiration” series. The goal of this series is to pay homage and raise awareness to the design and aesthetics of days gone by, such as the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s with a current focus on film (video and photography). My interest in these decades of design is somewhat new and I think it can be attributed in small part to 2001: A Space Odyssey. In my opinion it is one of the most beautiful movies of all time. I am by no means an authority on design, especially during these time periods, but I have found a strange beauty that lies in these decades and that wonder is what I hope to share with you.
The first part of this “Retro Inspiration” series will focus on 8mm and Super 8. I’m planning on sharing images of equipment (cameras, projectors, viewers) and even films themselves. In the future I hope to cover 35mm and medium format as well. I’m all set for the first part of this series, as I have most of the equipment I need to start filming, so it shouldn’t be too long before I can share some of my results. Please join me as I do a lot of learning and share my findings with you!
I’m also hoping to share desktop wallpapers with you throughout this series and I’m starting right now. Click the Download Bar at the top to download the top image on this page suitable for most screen resolutions (1900×1200). Let me know if you need a different size! Please don’t host the image off your own website or do anything with it besides use it as a Desktop Wallpaper. Thanks.
