Welcome to the first part of my Retro Inspiration series.  I'm going to start off the series by focusing on the Technicolor Mark Ten Super 8 Reflex Zoom Movie Camera. As this is the first substantial post in the series I wanted to do something a little special, so I have for you an original scanned owner's manual for the camera.  I received these instructions when I purchased the camera off eBay a couple of months ago and they are just an amazing example of retro design.  The entire 16 page manual is available to download (link above) in a .PDF.  The file is about 20.5 MB.  The PDF contains high resolution images of the manual, and let me tell you, they are gorgeous.  Many of the images could probably be used for Desktop Wallpapers.  This was my first time putting together something like this, so I hope you enjoy it! Welcome to the first part of my "Retro Inspiration" series.  The goal of this series is to pay homage and raise awareness to the design and aesthetics of days gone by, such as the 50's, 60's and 70's with a current focus on film (video and photography).  My interest in these decades of design is somewhat new and I think it can be attributed in small part to 2001: A Space Odyssey.  In my opinion it is one of the most beautiful movies of all time.  I am by no means an authority on design, especially during these time periods, but I have found a strange beauty that lies in these decades and that wonder is what I hope to share with you. The first part of this "Retro Inspiration" series will focus on 8mm and Super 8.  I'm planning on sharing images of equipment (cameras, projectors, viewers) and even films themselves.  In the future I hope to cover 35mm and medium format as well.  I'm all set for the first part of this series, as I have most of the equipment I need to start filming, so it shouldn't be too long before I can share some of my results. ...

I guess I've been a little busy creating posters and taking pictures to come up with some new freebies, so I'm hoping to change that in the next few weeks.  I think it's time for a new brush set. Anyways.  I tried my hand at cross processing some film.  It's basically when you develop a film in one chemical when it is supposed to be developed in another.  It's highly unpredictable and can yield some good/bad results.  I shot two rolls over the last two days.  Here's what I came up with.  Enjoy.

For those of you who don't know, I had the opportunity to shoot up to georgia for the 4th of July. I had an awesome time up in the mountains of georgia, kayaking, hiking, riding ATV's, and just all around fun. We also visited the quaint town of Blueridge. I took some pictures. Hopefully you will like them. (see below) ¶ As for graphic design stuff. I'm working on what I am going to be creating next. The more I surf the web, the more brushes and textures I see, and it's honestly overwhelming trying to come up with a creative new idea. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. Or if there is something you need for a specific design project, maybe I can help out. I'm thinking of creating another free brush set centered around hand drawn stuff. I recently went on a trip to New York and New Jersey, and it was really incredible. For those of you who don't know, I was born in New Jersey, and lived in Hasbrouck Heights for 3 years, before moving down here to South Florida. After moving, my brother and I would scurry back up to NJ just about every summer to visit my grandparents and aunts and uncles, until I was around 12. I say all this to say, this trip brought back some great childhood memories. We drove by the house where I grew up (a little), my grandparents old house, the church where my parents got married, and a whole host of other nostalgic goodies. Also, we managed to snake our way into NYC for a day. I have to say, I love New York City, and if I could afford it, I wouldn't mind living there for part of my life. Okay, enough words...
